How do I measure my foot for riding boots?
Stand on a sheet of paper with your weight evenly distributed and trace around your foot with a pencil held vertically. Measure the length from your heel to your longest toe and the width across the widest part of your foot. Measure both feet, as many people have one foot slightly larger than the other, and use the larger measurement when comparing against the manufacturer's size guide.
What is the difference between field boots and dress boots?
Field boots feature front ankle lacing, allowing greater flexibility through the ankle. They're a popular choice for showjumping, eventing and riders who prefer a softer feel.
Dress boots have a cleaner, more traditional appearance without front lacing. They provide a more structured look that is favoured for dressage and formal showing.
Both styles are suitable for riding—the choice largely comes down to your discipline and personal preference.
What is the difference between paddock boots and tall riding boots?
Paddock boots can be long or ankle-height boots commonly worn with half chaps or gaiters for everyday riding. They're practical, comfortable and ideal for Pony Club, recreational riding and stable work.
Tall riding boots extend to just below the knee and are traditionally worn for dressage, showjumping, eventing and showing. They offer additional lower-leg support and create a polished competition appearance.
Many riders own both, using paddock boots for everyday riding and tall boots for competitions.
Are Ariat riding boots suitable for Australian conditions?
Yes. Ariat is one of Australia's most popular equestrian footwear brands, offering everything from everyday paddock boots and country boots to premium competition footwear.
Designed for comfort, durability and all-day wear, Ariat boots are well suited to Australian riding conditions. As with any footwear, the best model will depend on your riding discipline, the conditions you ride in and your personal fit preferences.
Can I wear my riding boots for stable and paddock work?
You can, but regular stable work can significantly reduce the life of your riding boots.
Many riders keep a separate pair of yard or work boots for feeding horses, cleaning stables and working in wet or muddy conditions, helping preserve their riding boots for use in the saddle and at competitions.
Do you stock wide-calf riding boots?
Yes. Many of our tall riding boots are available in a range of calf fittings, including slim, regular and wide options.
Calf width and boot height are just as important as foot size when selecting tall boots. If you're unsure which fit is best, our experienced team can help you choose the most suitable option.
How should I care for my leather riding boots?
Remove dirt and mud after each ride using a soft cloth or brush. Clean regularly with a quality leather cleaner or saddle soap and apply a leather conditioner to help keep the leather supple.
Allow boots to dry naturally if they become wet and store tall boots upright using boot trees or boot shapers to help maintain their shape.
With proper care, quality leather riding boots can provide many years of reliable service.
What socks should I wear with riding boots?
Purpose-made riding socks are designed to fit comfortably inside riding boots without creating bulky seams or pressure points.
Many riders prefer lightweight moisture-wicking materials for everyday riding, while thermal riding socks provide additional warmth during winter.
The right riding socks improve comfort and help reduce rubbing inside your boots.
Do you stock children's riding boots?
Yes. We carry a wide range of children's riding boots suitable for Pony Club, lessons and competition.
Paddock boots combined with half chaps are a popular and economical option for growing riders, while children's tall boots are available for those competing or wanting a more traditional riding boot.
If possible, we recommend fitting children's riding boots in-store to ensure the best fit and comfort.
Do you offer free shipping on riding boots?
Yes. We offer free Australia-wide shipping on eligible orders over $150.
